Mackenzie's Gold Hope Session

The Gold Hope Project offers free family photography sessions to any pediatric cancer patient at any state of treatment, remission, or survivorship. As a volunteer photographer for The Project, I’ve had the joy of meeting some wonderful “fighters” over the years, and have learned not to be surprised by their tremendous spirits. Last fall, I spent an afternoon with Mackenzie and her family. Mackenzie had been diagnosed with a brainstem glioma only a few months earlier and had undergone surgery and radiation, but despite these trials, her spirit of adventure was in full force for our session.
